The Most Thrilling Professional Moment
We share thrilling sports moments every year. We almost never share thrilling professional ones. It is time to start.
Every year at the Finnish Sports Gala, the most thrilling sports moment of the year is chosen. I realized that we share these kinds of experiences in a professional sense far too rarely. That is why I stopped to think about this for myself: what has been my most thrilling professional moment over the past few years?
Several situations came to mind.
What they share is not necessarily the greatest commercial or professional success. What they share is the journey and the dramatic arc. Often, it started from a difficult situation, faced challenges, and ultimately achieved something meaningful.
Above all, what they share is the emotion the situation evoked, one that you find yourself returning to in your thoughts time and time again.
(In the video, I open up about one such moment from a couple of years ago. It is a story that began with a massive disappointment faced by a business unit, and where I got to help build a new success story. This eventually led to a turnaround that still gives me goosebumps.)
I have noticed that sharing these moments invariably brings good things to those around us.
